Tasting Notes
The initial sip presents a notable sweetness, led by a distinct corn-forward character, followed by pronounced cinnamon and a subtle rye spice. Importantly, the profile remains smooth and well-integrated, without any grainy or harsh notes. While the high-rye mash bill is evident, it avoids veering into the more assertive rye profile often associated with certain styles, which enhances its overall balance.
Product Details
Willett Family Estate Small Batch Bourbon represents a masterful blend of two distinct mash bills, each entering the barrel at 125 proof. This small batch expression combines the Willett family's legendary whiskey-making heritage with the refined expertise of fifth-generation Master Distiller Drew Kulsveen. The first mash bill features 72% corn, 13% rye, and 15% barley, while the second showcases 52% corn, 38% rye, and 10% barley—creating a complex, layered profile. Bottling proof varies by batch, reflecting Kulsveen's careful selection for optimal flavor development. A sophisticated addition to the Willett portfolio that honors tradition while delivering contemporary elegance.
