In the year 1992, Chandon Argentina, founded by Mot &Chandon in 1960, undertook Terrazas de los Andes project. After many years searching and exploring for new lands, Chandon discovered and identified the best terroirs and the precise altitude definition for each grape variety. In 1999, Terrazas de los Andes was founded right at Mendozas heart in an old and restored Spanish-style winery that had belonged from 1898 to Sotero Arizu, one of the forefathers of winemaking in Argentina. At Terrazas de los Andes, it all begins in the vineyards located in terraces at the foothill of the Andes Range. As pioneers in the election of the exact height to express the legitimate character for each genuine grape variety, our philosophy has always been to identify the best terroirs for varietals Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Torronts and Chardonnay.
