New Riff's 8 Year Old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey represents a milestone for the distillery—their first aged expression of their award-winning flagship rye. Aged a minimum of 8 years and bottled without chill filtration at 100 proof, this whiskey showcases the depth that time in barrel develops. Crafted using Kentucky's sour mash traditions, it delivers a complex profile: medium amber in color with golden highlights, the nose reveals rye grass, cinnamon, clove, and red apple. On the palate, expect a fulsome medium body with a drying entry, subtle oak, and a sweeter core that develops into spicy flavors. The midpalate shines with spearmint, clove, apple, and an aged grassy-mineral quality. The finish lingers with notes of clove, mint, and peppercorn. While this release blends whiskeys from two distilling seasons to expand availability beyond bonded-only releases, it maintains the character and craftsmanship New Riff has been known for since 2014.
