History and Origins
Glen Moray was established in 1897 in Elgin, Moray, converting a former brewery site into a whisky distillery. Like many distilleries founded during the whisky boom of the late 19th century, it experienced periods of closure and change before finding lasting stability in the 20th century.
For much of its modern history, Glen Moray was owned by Glenmorangie, during which time it built its reputation for value-driven Speyside whisky. In 2008 the distillery was acquired by La Martiniquaise, a French drinks group, which has continued to invest in and expand the brand's production and range.
